Introductory Post

Hello everyone! My name is Andrew Ford and I am a Music AB major at the University of Georgia. I started out my musical career taking classical piano lessons at age 8, and participating in competitions and Music Theory testing through my instructor. Once I got to Middle School, I took a big a large interest in rock and heavy metal music and began to teach myself how to play the drums, and then the guitar and bass. Some of the bands that have influenced me the most are TOOL, Slipknot, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Tame Impala, and Queens of the Stone Age just to name a few. I am also very passionate about soundtracks for both movies and video games. My favorite soundtrack of all time is the soundtrack for Final Fantasy VII. I am also the drummer for local Athens band Underground Springhouse, where I’ve had the opportunity to open for amazing artists such as The Wailers, Magic City Hippies, Steel Pulse, Perpetual Groove and The New Mastersounds. I love music because of its ability to amplify emotion and draw a straight line across the human experience that everyone can connect to.
